CVPRO honors Excellence in Communication Awards program winners

Nov. 7, 2011 Modesto, CA - - The Central Valley Public Relations Organization (CVPRO) honored recipients of its Excellence in Communication Awards program on Oct. 27, 2011. The luncheon was held at the Hilmar Cheese Company Visitors Center. The Excellence in Communication Awards program recognizes outstanding achievement in communications and public relations for Central Valley communication professionals. Judged by an outside team of PR professionals, entries were evaluated individually against specific criteria reflecting strategic planning, achievement of campaign/materials in relation to objectives and audiences and overall success of the campaign/tactics.

Maree Hawkins Communications Professional of the Year Award

In addition to the above awards, an award is also given to a communications professional who exhibits an exceptional breadth of experience, notable achievements and community service within the public relations field. The award is named after Maree Hawkins, who has been and continues to be a champion for the public relations industry. This year's winner of the Maree Hawkins Communications Professional of the Year Award is Mark Looker.

Mark is the owner of Looker Communications Consulting, Modesto, specializing in providing communication services to agricultural organizations in the San Joaquin Valley. His clients include Western United Dairymen and the Almond Board of California. His services include media relations, as well as monitoring and reporting on relevant legislative and regulatory issues. He was cited for being a pioneer in the use of electronic media and social media for his clients. He is a volunteer member of Stanislaus County's Public Information Officer emergency response team.
